perfect balance

In every bespoke kitchen the perfect balance has to be struck between practicality and aesthetics.

This modern family kitchen created by Guild Anderson in a Somerset manor house sits within a beautifully sympathetic extension, including two full height glazed walls allowing the whole space to be flooded with natural light. The extension also serves as a connection to the beautiful walled garden beyond.

The size of the space ensured that this busy family kitchen had ample room for two large islands and a full range of appliances for keen home cooks.

The central feature of this kitchen is the cooking area that includes the huge, oversized bespoke Westin wall hood, suspended from the ceiling and with a chimney perfectly angled to the pitch of the ceiling. A comparatively modestly sized Aga range cooker with side induction hob completes the cooking area. The range is flanked on either side by cabinetry housing the essential pan drawers and baking equipment. Dishwashers are located within each of the islands, essential in this size of home.

fuctional islands

A beautifully proportioned pantry cupboard finishes this zone, allowing ample storage for all dry goods, along with fridge freezer and a marble internal shelf to keep perishable items cooler.

The end of the island which faces the breakfast area, has been softened at base level with glazed cabinetry.  This is mirrored in the glazed dresser incorporating a central breakfast cupboard with cutlery and crockery drawers.

The result

The end result is a magnificent and grand bespoke kitchen design. A modern take on a country kitchen which blends perfectly with the modern extension and period architecture of the main building.
